Happy Easter, everyone! For some context, those are fairy silkies. They are a breed of chickens that literally lay chocolate eggs though the eggs come out as normal if they're expecting. Hens are monochromatic while roosters are rainbow patterned. Since spring is all about life and nature being anew, I figured a farm scene was appropriate.

I like the rainbow plumage on the rooster chicks. The hens are also very adorable but the rainbow colors are better at catching the eye - which is probably useful when the adult roosters are looking for a mate.

That is the idea and in nature, male birds tend to be more colourful for that reason.
