If you're wondering, my Nameday is on August 15 and my name is traced back to the Mother of Christ. With that said, my Nameday doubles up as the day she was informed that she would be the Holy Mother. So I'm curious, what obscure holidays do you people celebrate?

Comments:

Never heard of that before.

Celebrations on All Saints Day aren't obscure, but the way it's celebrated in different countries are. In the Philippines, the celebration is called Undas, and it's similar to the Day of the Dead in Mexico, but with different sets of traditional foods and beliefs. My older family members who immigrated from the Philippines to the US and Canada would sometimes talk of the culture shock when it came to Nov 1 because in the Philippines it was more common to eat on the graves of deceased loved ones while watching over and maintaining the grave plot.
